Heights Dedicates New Ambulance

The community of Hasbrouck Heights dedicated their new ambulance during a brief ceremony 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2003.  Due to the below freezing temperatures, the ceremony was conducted inside the Fire Department's temporary headquarters on Central Avenue.

The Department in full dress uniform was joined by members of the public for a program that included comments by Mayor William J. Torre, District 38 Assemblywoman Rose Marie Heck, Fire Chief Robert Thomasey, Fire Commissioner Justin A. DiPisa and Deputy Fire Commissioner Andrew Link III.  Tours of the new ambulance were given by Fire Department personnel. Light refreshments were served.

The cost of this ambulance was $152,000 and paid for by a 2002 legislative grant generated by Assemblywoman Rose Marie Heck.

The ambulance it replaces was acquired in 1983 and had 45,000 miles.  It was partially refurbished in 1995 with a new chassis after its engine caught fire in September 1994. Once decommissioned, the DPW will use it to carry sewer cameras.
