About this home --
Dr. Mary Sullivan Mohair was a local girl who made good—in her own home town. Raised in the Sullivan family homestead on Central Avenue, she spend her remaining years there, too, except for the last years spent in a nursing home. Her mother was a founding member of the Woman’s Club, of which Dr. Mohair was a member.

Dr. Mohair attended St. Vincent’s Academy and received her Doctorate in Education from Fordham University. She rose through the ranks in the Hasbrouck Heights School District, attaining the position of Superintendent of Schools. Among her accolades were a citation from Fordham naming her a “Distinguished Alumni” and a plaque received in 1970 from the Men’s Association, when she was hailed as “Citizen of the Year.” Several generations of students will remember her for her tough but fair stance and for her fashionable attire.  -- Michele Maiullo

Prior to demolition, the Fire Department used a smoke machine and  "volunteer" victims, held training exercises to practice search and rescue, ventilation procedures and use of the Thermal Imaging Camera. on September 2001. [Photos 1][Photos2]
