Kiefer Auditorium. Admission is either a bag of groceries

Sign
for the Times
The Borough of Hasbrouck Heights installed a public notice
sign at the Municipal Complex at the corner of The Boulevard
and Central Avenue. The sign cost about $12,000, plus $3,000
for electrical and computer hook-up. It was funded from
the capital ordinance for the construction of the municipal

Heights Continues Walking School Bus
Lt. Thomas Archer of the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department
announced that the “Walking School Bus” program
will be expanded during the upcoming school year. Last year,
students participated in a trial program from Euclid School
on Tuesdays and Lincoln School on Thursdays.

Camping
with the Classics
The Hasbrouck Heights Public Library held a Family Camp-in
on Friday and Saturday, August 1st and 2nd, from 9:30 p.m.
to 7:30 a.m. About 120 attended, with 80 sleeping over.

The decision to hold the Annual Senior Picnic indoors this

Lions Light Up The Night Sky
On Wednesday, July 2, 2008, the Hasbrouck Heights Lions
Club sponsored the 24th Annual Fireworks Program. Officials
estimated paid attendance over 3,500. [Photos

Drills with PA TEB Police
On Saturday, June 28, 2008, the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department
participated in a familiarization drill at Teterboro Airport
with the Port Authority Police, led by Sergeant Frank S.
Farfalla Jr. The purpose of the exercise was to foster better
coordination of resources and to familiarize the HHFD with
protocol during an aircraft incident on the airfield. [Photos

Police Academy Starts With a Bang
At the end of June, thirty-three newly graduated eighth
graders started their summer off with a bang – literally.
These adventurous children comprised the ninth recruit class
of the Hasbrouck Heights Junior Police Academy. For five
days, the recruits took part in training that mirrors the
regimen a real police recruit undergoes while in the academy.

Little League Picnic 2008
The Hasbrouck Heights Little League held its Annual Picnic
on Saturday, June 19, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,
at the Little League Complex. An estimated 1,400 folks enjoyed
plenty of grilled foods, Italian ices and cold drinks. [Photos

2,140 Pounds Shredded
On Saturday, June 7th, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Hasbrouck
Heights residents and businesses had 2,140 pounds of sensitive
documents safely shredded and recycled for free at the Central

Farmers Market is Back,
. The 8th Annual Farmers’ Market began on June 17th
with a visit from NJ Secretary of Agriculture Charles M.
Kuperus. The Farmers Market is held every Tuesday at Blvd

Memorial Day 2008 Observed
On May 26, 2008, the Hasbrouck Heights Memorial Day activities
began with a well attended parade from Williams Avenue,
along Terrace Avenue, concluding at Memorial Park. This
was the 89th year that the citizens of Hasbrouck Heights
observed Memorial Day at this Monument. [Photos

Following the Hasbrouck Heights Memorial Day Veterans ceremony,
the parade continued along Passaic Avenue to the Firemen’s

sounded the call for an overturned vehicle with two people

The Andy Feintuch Memorial Wrestling Tournament
was held on Sunday, February 24 from 8:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Community Committee in cooperation with the H.H. Chamber
of Commerce.

Free Health Consultations
The Hasbrouck Heights Health Department advises residents
over 18 years old that free health consultations will be
held at the Municipal Building Conference Room 1 from 10:00
a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Consultations are held on the fourth
Thursday of each month. No appointment is necessary. Scheduled
dates: September 25, October 23, November 20 and December
18. Services include: health
history evaluation, blood pressure measurements, height
and weight measurements, individualized counseling and education,
including referral and follow-up confidential consultation
with a Public Health Nurse. This program is part of the
Borough's health contract with Bergen County Department
of Health Services. These free health consultations have
been provided to our residents for over 10 years.
