HH Fire Department Features

Mass Decontamination
The radio crackles: "There has been a contamination of unknown substance at ...."  Office building, factory or stadium -- regional first responders are trained to handle the decontamination of large numbers of people.

Carlstadt, Hasbrouck Heights, Little Ferry, Moonachie, Wallington and Wood-Ridge Fire Departments  participated in this hands-on mass decontamination exercise. The training was held on August 22, 2004 at a Route 46 office complex parking lot  in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. Classroom instruction preceded this drill.  This course is given to every fire department in Northern New Jersey and with this common training -- all departments can mobilize in highly-coordinated, scalable efforts.

Halloween In The Park
Woodland Park will be invaded by ghosts, goblins, aliens and assorted scary characters on the evening of October 20, 2005.  Halloween in the Park will begin at 5:45 p.m. and conclude at 9:30 p.m. Two hayride trailers will take turns collecting riders at the Harrison Avenue end of the pavilion and go around to the back section of the park were they will be frightened by a variety of terrifying citizens of the night.

After the horrific experience, they can escape at the Roosevelt Avenue end of the pavilion — where they will be treated to cider and cookies.  The pavilion fireplace will be warm and glowing. A card reader will delight participants and will be provided by Fun Time Entertainment.  The event is sponsored by the Hasbrouck Heights Department of Recreation. Tickets are $5. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets will be available during Town Day.  For more information call 201-288-4143.
